Wedding Photographer Brighton

Iconic bathing boxes, bayside elegance, golden sand. Brighton brings a refined coastal backdrop that photographs beautifully year-round.

Bathing Boxes, Bayside Light, and Quiet Elegance

Brighton is one of Melbourne's most recognisable beachside suburbs. As an experienced Melbourne wedding photography team, we have been shooting along this foreshore for over a decade. The row of eighty-two colourful bathing boxes along Dendy Street Beach is arguably the most photographed stretch of coastline in Victoria, and for good reason. Those bold painted facades against the sand, the bay, and the sky create a backdrop with instant colour and character that works in every season. We have photographed hundreds of portraits against those boxes and still find new compositions every time.

But Brighton offers more than one beach. The stretch of sand running north from the bathing boxes toward Middle Brighton Pier provides a quieter, less crowded alternative. The pier itself extends into the bay and offers a clean, open-water backdrop that suits couples who want something simpler and less styled. At low tide, the wet sand reflects the sky and creates a mirror effect that adds real depth to portraits.

Middle Brighton Pier is also a strong ceremony location. The timber deck, the open water views, and the late-afternoon sun position make it feel like a destination setting despite being fifteen minutes from the CBD. We have covered ceremonies there where the sunset painted everything amber behind the couple while guests watched from the pier rails.

The Brighton Savoy on the Esplanade is one of the area's most established reception venues, with balcony views over the bay and a long history of hosting weddings. It sits directly above the beach, which means the transition from ceremony to reception is seamless and portrait opportunities are steps away rather than a drive. Sandringham Yacht Club, just south of Brighton proper, is another bayside reception option with a nautical feel and waterfront outlook.

Away from the beach, Green Point Reserve provides a parkland setting with mature Norfolk Island pines, open lawns, and views back across the bay to the city skyline. It is a popular ceremony spot for couples who want greenery and water in the same frame. Hampton Street, one block back from the foreshore, adds a village-like quality with its boutique shops and cafes that work well for relaxed candid frames during the bridal party's downtime.

What sets Brighton apart from other bayside suburbs is the combination of accessibility and refinement. The tree-lined streets, the well-maintained foreshore, and the quality of the natural light reflecting off the bay give every frame a polished, coastal quality. It does not feel like a regional getaway and it does not feel like the inner city. It sits in its own space, and that is exactly why couples keep choosing it.
